Jarno Widar finishes 13th in Il Lombardia debut

Belgian cyclist Jarno Widar secured a 13th-place finish in his debut Il Lombardia, a performance he described as physically exhausting. Competing for Lotto-Intermarché, the 20-year-old remained competitive among top riders for much of the race but struggled during the final climbs.

Widar noted that the intensity of racing for over six hours was a new experience, stating, “I didn't know I could go that deep and ride for more than six hours.” Despite feeling completely depleted toward the end, he expressed satisfaction with his performance and refused to use his age as an excuse, pointing to winner Paul Seixas as proof that young riders can compete at the highest level.

Following this result, Widar is scheduled to travel to China for the Tour of Guangxi before concluding his season.
