Jarno Widar wins Tre Valli Varesine amid police motorcycle collision

Jarno Widar secured his first professional victory at the Tre Valli Varesine, winning a sprint against Tom Pidcock and Matteo Jorgenson after breaking away with them 14 kilometers from the finish.

The race was marked by a controversial incident involving a police motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction on the circuit. The vehicle struck two riders from the same team: Marcel Camprubí and Thomas Gloag. While Camprubí was able to continue, Gloag was forced to abandon the race and required stitches for a knee injury.

Tom Pidcock, who finished second, expressed significant anger regarding the accident, stating, “This should not happen,” and noting that he felt like quitting the race at the moment of the crash. Despite the frustration, Pidcock praised Widar’s performance, noting the young Belgian’s impressive sprinting speed.
