Jaroslav Polaček announces candidacy for Košice mayor

Jaroslav Polaček, the current mayor of Košice, has announced his candidacy for re-election in the upcoming autumn municipal elections. Polaček is running with the support of a coalition of political entities, including KDH, SaS, the Hungarian Alliance, the Roma Coalition Party, Nova, and the Democratic Party – Civic Democrats of Slovakia.

His campaign focuses on completing ongoing urban projects and avoiding a political restart for the city. Polaček emphasized that his administration has already achieved results in transport, education, sports, and public spaces. His primary program priorities include improving daily life through transportation infrastructure, such as repairing roads, bridges, and sidewalks, as well as modernizing tram tracks, public transit, and cycling infrastructure.
