Jarrell Miller disputes WBA decision to strip mandatory challenger status
Heavyweight boxer Jarrell Miller is disputing a decision by the World Boxing Association (WBA) to strip him of his mandatory challenger status. The WBA characterized his previous listing as an "inadvertent error," stating that Moses Itauma is the division's official mandatory challenger and that Miller's recent victory over Lenier Pero was not a final title eliminator.
Miller has publicly criticized the organization, addressing WBA President Gilberto Mendoza Jr. in a statement. Miller claims he has respected the sanctioning body's processes, including attending conventions and paying all necessary sanctioning fees. He argued that his fight against Pero was "clearly presented to me as a FINAL TITLE ELIMINATOR" and requested an investigation into the situation.
Despite the ranking correction, Miller remains ranked second in the WBA heavyweight standings. He is reportedly in negotiations to challenge WBA champion Murat Gassiev for the title.
