Jarren Duran linked to San Diego Padres in trade rumors

Speculation regarding a potential trade for Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran has resurfaced. According to reporter Jon Heyman, if Duran is moved this winter, the San Diego Padres are a likely destination because the organization ‘love’ him.

Duran, a former All-Star and All-Star Game MVP, has seen a decline in performance, dropping from a 9.0 WAR player in 2024 to a 0.4 WAR player in 2026. While his market value is expected to be lower than in previous years, the Padres have a history of interest in the outfielder. In 2025, Boston reportedly declined a trade package from San Diego that included pitcher Dylan Cease and catching prospect Ethan Salas.
