Jarrod Bowen named by Michael Owen as perfect Salah replacement for Liverpool
Former England striker Michael Owen said Jarrod Bowen would be the "absolute perfect" replacement for Mohamed Salah at Liverpool. Owen highlighted Bowen’s loyalty to West Ham, noting his status as captain and local roots, and argued that a move to a top club would suit both player and club. He added, "If an opportunity came along for him … to play for Liverpool, even the most ardent West Ham fan couldn’t begrudge that."
Bowen finished the 2025‑26 Premier League season with nine goals and eleven assists, becoming the first player to record 20+ combined goals and assists for a relegated side since Charlie Austin in 2014‑15. After West Ham’s relegation, Bowen said his priority is helping the club return to the Premier League. Liverpool are also reported to be evaluating other options such as Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola for the right‑wing role.
