Jashpur road infrastructure project to cost 3,147 crore rupees
A major road infrastructure project is underway in the Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh as part of the central government’s Bharatmala Pariyojana. The Raipur-Dhanbad Economic Corridor, being developed at an estimated cost of 3,147 crore rupees, will include approximately 104 kilometers of road within the Jashpur district.
The 707-kilometer four-lane corridor aims to significantly improve connectivity between Raipur and Dhanbad, linking Jashpur to major cities such as Bilaspur and Korba, as well as the neighboring state of Jharkhand. Once completed, the project is expected to reduce travel time from Jashpur to the state capital, Raipur, from approximately 14 hours to between 8 and 9 hours, with future projections suggesting it could drop to 5 or 6 hours.
This improved connectivity is intended to stimulate local trade, tourism, agriculture, and employment opportunities while providing easier access to healthcare, higher education, and administrative services for district residents.
