Jasiel Rivero extends contract with Valencia Basket until 2027
Valencia Basket has extended the contract of Cuban-Spanish power forward Jasiel Rivero until the end of the 2026-27 season. The decision follows a successful initial period after Rivero joined the team on August 24 to provide depth during national team call-ups.
Rivero had originally signed a one-month temporary contract on August 31. His performance in the early stages of the season, including three official matches in the EuroLeague and Liga Endesa, prompted the club to secure his services long-term. During his recent appearances, he has averaged 8.6 points and 4 rebounds per game.
This marks Rivero's third stint with the club, having previously played for Valencia during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. His return provides the team with necessary interior depth for a demanding schedule involving both domestic and European competitions. Meanwhile, Jonathan Motley has joined Crvena Zvezda as Rivero's replacement.
