Jasikovac Sloboda memorial complex awaits state funding

The Sloboda memorial complex on Jasikovac hill, located above Berane, remains without necessary state funding for its protection and valorization. Although declared a cultural asset of national importance in early 2022, the site has not received the required financial support to safeguard its unique architecture and surrounding 24-hectare park forest.

Three years ago, it was announced that 300,000 euros would be allocated from the state budget for this purpose, but the funds have not yet been utilized. The Polim Museum stated that while they are ready to proceed with the project to arrange and protect the site, significant state-level funding is essential to begin work on the monument and the entire area.

Designed by the renowned architect Bogdan Bogdanović, the monument serves as a symbol of the liberation struggles fought in the region during the Balkan, First, and Second World Wars.
