Jasin Kala arrested in Belgium for international drug trafficking
Jasin Kala, a 58-year-old Albanian national known as 'Cinja' of Shijak, has been arrested in Belgium as part of the international 'The Wanted' operation. Kala was wanted by Interpol Tirana following a 2023 court order for his alleged involvement in organized crime.
According to SPAK investigations, Kala is suspected of participating in a criminal group organized to produce, sell, and traffic large quantities of narcotics across multiple countries. He is also accused of money laundering, with authorities suspecting that criminal proceeds were invested in two local businesses in Shijak. Extradition procedures to Albania are currently underway.
In a separate but related crackdown on international drug networks, Belgian police arrested eight individuals in Antwerp. The investigation targeted a cocaine trafficking ring utilizing the Port of Antwerp. This operation involved a 48-year-old mediator linking groups in Albania and Latin America to markets in Europe and Australia. During the investigation, authorities seized cocaine shipments totaling 99 kilograms.
