Marta Kostyuk reaches Wimbledon semifinal, defeats Jasmine Paolini

Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (seed 12/13) advanced to her second consecutive Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon 2026 after a 6‑4, 6‑4 win over Ashlyn Krueger in the round of 16 and a 6‑3, 6‑2 victory over Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in the quarter‑finals. Kostyuk’s win over Paolini, a former finalist, marked her first Wimbledon semifinal and will set up a semi‑final clash with either Czech ninth seed Linda Noskova or Belgium’s Elise Mertens, who both also reached the last four. Paolini, who had upset Philippines’ Alexandra Eala 6‑4, 4‑6, 6‑3 in the previous round, ended her run at the quarter‑final stage. Elise Mertens defeated Marie Bouzkova 6‑4, 6‑4 to reach the quarter‑finals before losing to Noskova, who beat Mertens 6‑3, 7‑5. The tournament featured the first Wimbledon in the Open Era with four first‑time women’s semifinalists. Kostyuk said, “First time playing on this unbelievable court, it’s a dream come true.”
