Jason Anthony Scott sentenced to six months for fatal Charlotte crash
Jason Anthony Scott, a 19‑year‑old white driver, pleaded guilty to two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of assault with a deadly weapon after a high‑speed collision on Dec. 27, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Traveling about 100 mph in a 45 mph zone, his BMW struck a Honda CR‑V at the intersection of Ardrey Kell Road and Red Rust Lane, killing 45‑year‑old Lorin Manley and her 81‑year‑old mother, Gloria Manley, and seriously injuring their 12‑year‑old daughter.
A Mecklenburg County judge, Matthew Osman, suspended a longer prison term and imposed a sentence of six months in jail, three years of probation, and revocation of Scott’s driving privileges. The sentencing has drawn public attention to the disparity between the severity of the crash and the length of incarceration.
