Jason Doyle announces retirement from Speedway Grand Prix

Australian speedway rider Jason Doyle has announced his decision to retire from the Speedway Grand Prix series. The 2017 World Champion confirmed the news during a discussion with Belle Vue Aces media, stating that after eleven years in the competition, he wishes to step aside to allow younger riders the opportunity to compete at the highest level.

Doyle, who has competed in the Grand Prix series continuously since 2015, noted that while he still intends to race in league competitions for several more years, he wants to focus on the enjoyment of riding rather than the intense pressure of the world championship circuit. He did not entirely rule out a future return to the Grand Prix if the series were to visit Australia, but emphasized that his current decision is driven by a desire for a change in focus.

Currently competing for Cellfast Wilki Krosno in Poland, Doyle has accumulated 66 points in the 2026 season. His departure marks the end of a significant era in international speedway, as he is noted for being the first rider to achieve a speedway equivalent of a Grand Slam by winning the Individual World Championship, Speedway of Nations, and the Speedway World Cup.
