Jason Jones, co-founder of Bungie and creator of the Halo and Destiny franchises, has launched a new Los Angeles-based worldbuilding studio called Stone Kite. He co-founded the company with Margaret Stohl, a novelist and former narrative director at Bungie, who serves as CEO.

Unlike traditional game development studios, Stone Kite focuses on creating original fictional universes designed to be developed simultaneously across multiple media platforms, including books, comics, film, and television. The studio aims to move beyond standard transmedia adaptations by building consistent worlds that allow users to enter the story through various formats.

The studio’s debut project is ‘One Zero One’, a science-fiction universe centered on a conflict between humanity and an army of AI-driven robots. The project launched with a four-part graphic novel series adapted from Jones’ manuscript, ‘An Oral History of Humanity’s Final Invention’. The creative team includes various contributors from the film, television, and comic book industries.
