Jason Kelce uses former Washington team name during broadcast

During an NFL Network broadcast of the Washington Commanders against the Indianapolis Colts, commentator Jason Kelce mistakenly referred to the franchise by its former name, the Redskins. The slip-up was immediately noted by play-by-play announcer Dave Pasch, leading Kelce to apologize to the Washington team.

The incident has drawn varying reactions. While some view the error as a broadcast blunder, members of the Blackfeet Nation and the family of Chief John Two Guns White Calf have expressed support for the former imagery. Thomas White Calf stated that the team’s new stadium should honor the Chief, who served as the face of the franchise’s logo from 1972 until 2020. The family has previously advocated for the NFL to reclaim the former name and its associated native legacy.
