Jason Kidd in advanced talks to join ESPN NBA studio coverage

ESPN is reportedly in advanced talks to hire former Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd for its NBA studio coverage. The move would see the Hall of Fame point guard join the network's NBA Countdown program.

Kidd, who led the Mavericks to the 2024 NBA Finals, was dismissed by the franchise in May following the hiring of Masai Ujiri as president of basketball operations. At the time of his departure, Kidd reportedly had four years and over $40 million remaining on his contract.

If the deal is finalized, Kidd would join a studio team that includes Malika Andrews, Brian Windhorst, Kendrick Perkins, Michael Malone, and Shams Charania. He would fill a vacancy left by Malone, who departed ESPN to coach the North Carolina Tar Heels.
