NSW Ambulance paramedic Jason Purkis has been awarded the Commissioner's Certificate for his actions during the Walcha Demolition Derby crash last year. The award recognizes his exceptional clinical expertise, rapid triage, and immediate intervention for multiple critically injured patients.
Purkis, who is based in Kempsey, arrived at the scene alongside intensive care paramedic David McMillan. During the emergency response, paramedics transported 13 patients to the hospital. Purkis credited the successful outcome to the coordinated efforts of various services, including the SES, RFS, and medical staff at Walcha Hospital.
