Jatiluhur Reservoir Guard Death Leads to Strengthened Security Measures

A 42‑year‑old security guard, identified as Sumarna, was found dead, handcuffed, floating in Jatiluhur Reservoir in Purwakarta, Indonesia. Police suspect homicide after the guard reportedly confronted a group of youths planning vandalism at the site.

Purwakarta regent Saepul Bahri Binzein announced a comprehensive review of security at the vital water‑supply facility. He called for additional personnel, installation of CCTV cameras, and improved lighting to prevent a repeat of the tragedy.
