Amit Shah inaugurates All India Official Language Conference in Mumbai

Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended the inauguration of the sixth All India Official Language Conference and Hindi Diwas 2026 celebrations in Mumbai. The event, held at the Asiatic Society, included the presentation of the ‘Rajbhasha Gaurav’ and ‘Rajbhasha Kirti’ awards to individuals and institutions for outstanding contributions to the official language.

During his address, Shah emphasized that Hindi serves as a vital link for national unity and dialogue among India’s diverse linguistic groups rather than being a competitor to other regional languages. He noted that India’s strength lies in its linguistic plurality and that the development of Hindi is most meaningful when it progresses alongside the respect and promotion of all Indian languages.

The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The program also featured the launch of various publications and a special discussion session focused on the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.
