Jaume Subirós receives National Gastronomy Awards

Jaume Subirós has been honored with the National Gastronomy Prize from the Catalan Academy of Gastronomy and Nutrition, as well as the National Career Prize from the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy.

In an interview, Subirós reflected on his career and the legacy of his father-in-law, Josep Mercader, the founder of the Motel Empordà in Figueres. The restaurant is approaching its 65th anniversary, while 2026 will also mark the centenary of Mercader's birth. Subirós emphasized the importance of hospitality and customer care, noting that while culinary trends change, true style remains constant.
