Javier Aguirre begins first training sessions with Valencia CF

Mexican coach Javier Aguirre has officially begun his tenure at Valencia CF, leading his first training session at the Paterna sports city. Aguirre, 67, signed a contract for one season with an option for a second, tasked with rescuing the club from its current crisis. Valencia currently sits in the penultimate position of LaLiga, having earned only four points in seven matches.

Upon arrival, Aguirre immediately modified the team's schedule, canceling a previously planned weekend break to implement training sessions on Friday and Saturday, leaving Sunday as the only rest day. He is working alongside new sporting director Braulio Vázquez and his technical staff, including assistants Pol Llorente and Toni Amor.

Aguirre expressed optimism regarding the squad's individual talent, stating there is “much work to do” but that the team has the quality to avoid further struggle. He emphasized his desire to restore Mestralla as a “fortress” for the club. His official presentation is scheduled for Monday at Mestalla, and his competitive debut is set for October 11 against Racing Santander.
