Javier Aguirre reaches agreement to manage Valencia CF

Valencia CF has reached an agreement to appoint Mexican manager Javier Aguirre as their new head coach. The deal follows the dismissal of Carlos Corberán during a difficult start to the LaLiga season, which has left the club in the relegation zone with only four points from six matches.

The contract is set to run until June 30, 2027, but includes a specific performance clause: an automatic one-year extension if the team qualifies for the Europa League. Aguirre, 67, returns to Spanish football after recently concluding his tenure with the Mexican national team.

Aguirre is expected to bring his own technical staff, including assistant coach Toni Amor and physical trainer Pol Lorente. Lorente’s transition follows his departure from the Mexican national team. The appointment was facilitated by sporting director Braulio Vázquez as part of a broader restructuring aimed at stabilizing the club.
