Javier Bardem discusses fitness routine and early career hiatus
Spanish actor Javier Bardem has shared insights into his personal wellness routine and his early career decisions. At 57, Bardem has incorporated strength training into his lifestyle for the past two years to maintain muscle mass and promote healthy aging, noting that he finds the practice both motivating and enjoyable.
Reflecting on his professional journey, Bardem recalled a pivotal period early in his career following the success of 'Jamón, Jamón' in 1992. To avoid being typecast in stereotypical roles, he chose to step away from acting for two years, during which time he worked as a waiter. He described the experience as a 'great school' for observing diverse characters, which later informed his acting performances.
