Rome hosts major cultural events including film festival and art exhibitions
Rome is hosting several major cultural and artistic events. At the 21st Rome Film Festival, actor Javier Bardem received a Career Award. During his acceptance speech, Bardem made political remarks, stating that granting power to those who deny fundamental human rights leads to figures like Mussolini, Hitler, and Netanyahu. He also praised the vitality of young protesters.
In the realm of cinema, Deva Cassel is presenting her new film, ‘L’amore immortale’, a contemporary reimagining of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’. The film follows a Romanian ballerina in Paris and explores themes of ambition and impossible love.
Artistic exhibitions are also prominent. Villa Medici will host exhibitions covering the impact of oil, the work of François Morellet, and Francis Picabia. Additionally, the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum has reopened the Bottega di Priapo and its surrounding residential quarter to the public following extensive maintenance work. Other local cultural activities include a convention at Villa Altieri and guided tours of the underground ruins of the Esquilino district.
