Javier Bardem to receive Career Award at Rome Film Fest

Spanish actor Javier Bardem will be honored with a Career Award during the 21st edition of the Rome Film Fest, scheduled to take place from October 13 to 25, 2026, at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone.

The announcement was made by Salvatore Nastasi, President of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, following a proposal by Artistic Director Paola Malanga. The award will be presented by Academy Award-winning director Paolo Sorrentino.

As part of the festival, Bardem will present a screening of ‘El ser querido’, directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen. The film, which received significant acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival, will be featured in the ‘Best of 2026’ section. In the film, Bardem portrays Esteban Martínez, a legendary director with a history marked by violence and excess.
