Javier Cortés Bordoy, prominent cancer researcher and physician, dies

Javier Cortés Bordoy, a prominent gynecologist, obstetrician, and medical researcher from Palma, has passed away. He was widely recognized as a leading figure in Balearic medicine and a dedicated fighter against cancer.

Cortés Bordoy was a recipient of the 2020 Ramon Llull Prize for his contributions to medical research and cancer prevention. His long-standing commitment to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) included serving on the National Council and the Technical Committee of the Balearic Provincial Board.

Balearic President Marga Prohens expressed her condolences, praising his professional excellence and humanity. She noted his decades of work advancing medicine and recalled his support during her own pregnancy when she contracted Covid-19.
