Javier García Pimienta leads UD Almería to top of the table

Under the leadership of Javier García Pimienta, UD Almería has risen to the top of the league table with 21 points after nine matches. Following a difficult previous season that ended in a failed promotion play-off, the club appointed Pimienta to lead a new project.

Pimienta, who was trained in FC Barcelona’s La Masia academy, has implemented a possession-based style of play characterized by ball control and tactical flexibility. While he often utilizes a 4-3-3 formation, he has demonstrated the ability to shift to a 3-2-4-1 system to enhance attacking presence and lateral projection.

The influence of the Barcelona style is evident in the squad, featuring players such as 19-year-old Quim Junyent and goalkeeper Áron Yaakobishvili, both of whom have ties to the Catalan club. Junyent has become a key starter, contributing significantly to the team's playmaking and assist numbers.
