Mexico begins patriotic month with cultural and political events

Mexico is entering its month of national celebrations, marked by various civic, cultural, and political activities across the country.

In Soledad de Graciano Sánchez, the municipal government has decorated the Palacio Municipal with tricolor elements to honor the Independence of Mexico. Upcoming festivities include the traditional Grito de Independencia on September 15 and an Independence Parade on September 16. Additionally, the 'México en la Piel' festival will take place at Jardín Hidalgo, featuring folklore, music, and traditional food.

Politically, Governor Javier May Rodríguez of Tabasco led the lighting of patriotic lights in Villahermosa, emphasizing the defense of national sovereignty and the continuity of the current national transformation project. Meanwhile, President Claudia Sheinbaum has begun a national tour for her second accountability report, starting in Morelos to detail infrastructure, education, and health progress.

Historical reflections also accompany the season, noting that the iconic portraits of Miguel Hidalgo, the Father of the Nation, are not based on paintings made during his lifetime, as he never sat for a formal portrait before his execution in 1811.
