Javier Milei criticizes Brazil’s Lula government

Argentine President Javier Milei criticized the administration of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva during the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Milei expressed hope that Brazil would break away from what he described as a ‘decadent socialist course’ and instead embrace ‘the ideas of liberty’ to join the group of free nations.

Milei’s remarks come amid his political alignment with Flávio Bolsonaro, a presidential candidate in Brazil. The Argentine leader previously expressed support for Bolsonaro, stating that he believed only Flávio Bolsonaro could stop the effects of Lula’s administration and address issues such as organized crime and drug trafficking.

Additionally, Milei criticized the political left, linking socialism to authoritarianism and characterizing certain concepts of equality as ‘extreme and illusory.’ He suggested that the right must resolve problems left by previous leftist governments and warned voters to prepare for what he termed a ‘dirty’ election.
