Javier Milei faces criticism for insults directed at journalists

Argentine President Javier Milei has drawn criticism following a series of insults directed at journalists and media outlets on social media. The tension escalated after Milei targeted columnist Carlos Pagni, describing his comments as a “valuable confession” and using derogatory language to characterize both Pagni and La Nación director Fernán Saguier.

The confrontation followed an interview in which Pagni acknowledged that his journalistic analysis carries political weight, though he maintained he does not engage in partisan or factional politics. Pagni noted that journalists must navigate such aggression without allowing it to condition their professional work.

In response to these actions, the Colegio Público de la Abogacía de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires issued an official statement expressing concern over the repeated disparaging remarks. The entity, led by Alejandra García, emphasized that freedom of expression is a guarantee for all citizens and a vital component of a healthy democracy, stating that indiscriminate insults weaken public debate rather than enriching it.
