Javier Milei sees improved social media sentiment in Argentina
According to a report by the consultancy Ad Hoc, Argentine President Javier Milei saw a slight improvement in social media sentiment during September. The gap between positive and negative mentions narrowed by 10 points, driven by discussions regarding the Falkland Islands (Malvinas), sovereignty, relations with the United States, and his speech at the United Nations.
Specific drivers included the announcement of an August inflation rate of 1.7%, which prompted 60% positive mentions, and his UN address, which resulted in a 50% positive to 33% negative ratio. Despite this, negative mentions still predominated for the eighth consecutive month, accounting for 46.2% of the conversation.
Concurrently, Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof increased his digital presence, recording 580,000 mentions in September—a 27% increase from August. His growth was attributed to his messages regarding the Peronist party's future, his trip to New York, and his stances on the Falkland Islands and the Middle East.
