Javier Rodríguez Palacios named PSOE candidate for Alcalá de Henares

The PSOE Federal Committee has designated Javier Rodríguez Palacios as the party's candidate for the mayoralty of Alcalá de Henares. The decision by the party's Federal Lists Commission bypasses the traditional primary election process, opting instead to directly appoint the former mayor.

This move follows a period of internal division within the local PSOE, which had split into two main factions: those aligned with the former mayor and a group led by Enrique Nogués, Miguel Castillejo, and Alberto González. The latter group, known as ‘Militantes por primarias’, had previously advocated for a collective project focused on increased citizen participation and primary elections.
