Javier Ruiz details strategy for new La Séptima program

Journalist Javier Ruiz has outlined the strategy for his upcoming program, ‘La última hora’, on the new television channel La Séptima. The show is scheduled to air Sunday through Thursday from 21:00 to 01:00, offering four hours of daily news analysis.

Ruiz aims to differentiate the format from traditional debate programs by combining immediate information with opinion and context. He emphasized a commitment to fact-checking, stating that the program seeks to avoid hoaxes and that debates will not be won by volume or shouting. Ruiz described the space’s ambition as becoming ‘the supreme court of truth,’ promising uncomfortable interviews rather than superficial discussions.

In a separate reflection on his background, Ruiz discussed his humble origins and the influence of his family on his values. Born in Valencia to a father from León and a mother from Jaén, he described his family history as part of ‘the diaspora of poverty,’ noting his grandfather was a miner who faced hardship during the post-war period.
