Javier Sagastiberri releases new noir novel Muerte en San Mamés

Javier Sagastiberri has released his new novel, ‘Muerte en San Mamés’, featuring his iconic character Beltza. A prominent figure in the ‘latxapela noir’ genre, Sagastiberri utilizes the character—a former member of an armed group turned hitman—to navigate a complex plot.

The story begins with a murder occurring in the restrooms of the San Mamés stadium during an Athletic Club match attended by 50,000 people. As the investigation unfolds, the narrative explores themes of racism in football, economic interests, and the intersection of far-right extremists and agents from the CNI (Spanish Intelligence). The novel serves as a reflection on contemporary social issues in Spain, including far-right ideologies and migration.
