Javier Tebas criticizes Real Madrid and the Super League project

LaLiga President Javier Tebas has criticized Real Madrid and its president, Florentino Pérez, describing the club as the “most rebellious team in Spain” due to their differing vision for the sport. Speaking at the National Journalism and Sport Conference organized by AGAXORDE, Tebas argued that while clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona act as the “locomotives” of football, the league must also protect the “wagons” to maintain a balanced ecosystem.

Tebas also addressed the ongoing threat of a Super League. He warned that a congested football calendar, driven by an increase in international and European competitions, is creating a “two-speed football” model. He suggested that while a “fast-motion” Super League envisioned by Pérez has been halted, a “slow-motion” version is currently in progress, which could ultimately destroy national football structures.
