Javier Urra, former Madrid defender, reveals metastatic lung cancer

Javier Urra, a 69‑year‑old psychologist who served as the first Defensor del Menor of the Comunidad de Madrid, announced publicly that he has been diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread to the opposite lung and possibly the spine. He made the disclosure on the television program "Y ahora Sonsoles" (also reported on Antena 3's "YAS Verano"), explaining that he could not appear the previous day because of the diagnosis.

Urra also recounted his long‑term health struggles, including six heart attacks, the implantation of stents, and an inguinal hernia. Despite the prognosis, he urged viewers to stay positive, saying "to life you must give energy" and highlighted the work of the Fundación Pequeño Deseo, an organization he founded to support people with serious illnesses.
