Javon Bardwell decommits from Kansas and reclassifies to 2026

Javon Bardwell, a consensus five-star prospect, has announced his decision to reclassify to the class of 2026 and has decommitted from the University of Kansas.

Bardwell, a 6-foot-6 wing from Harlem, New York, had been committed to the Jayhawks as a member of the 2027 class since October. By reclassifying to 2026, he will be able to utilize all five years of the NCAA’s new eligibility rules. In a statement shared on social media, Bardwell noted that his decision was not a reflection of the coaching staff, expressing gratitude to Coach Bill Self, Tony Bland, and Jeremy Case.

The departure leaves the Kansas 2027 recruiting class without a commitment. Bardwell is highly ranked, previously cited by 247 Sports as the No. 16 player in the country and the No. 5 ranked small forward. His recruitment is now officially open for the 2026 cycle.
