Javonte Smart signs with Cluj-Napoca to return to ABA League

American basketball player Javonte Smart has signed with the Romanian club Cluj-Napoca. This move will bring him back to the ABA League, where he previously played for Crvena zvezda in early 2024.

Smart joins Cluj-Napoca as their 11th reinforcement for the upcoming season. The club is preparing to compete in both the ABA League and the EuroCup. Cluj-Napoca coach Mihai Silvasan expressed confidence in Smart, describing him as a talented player and an excellent scorer who can make a difference in any game.

Smart’s recent performance includes a stint with the Ottawa Blackjacks in the Canadian CEBL, where he averaged 23.8 points, 6.9 assists, and 4.4 rebounds over 22 games. During his time with Crvena zvezda, he helped the team win the ABA League, the Radivoj Korać Cup, and the Serbian Championship, though his individual EuroLeague statistics averaged 7.2 points per game.
