Jawa Tengah's People's Schools Take in 2,692 New Students

In the 2026/2027 academic year, 2,692 new students began classes at 16 Sekolah Rakyat (People's Schools) across Central Java. The program, championed by Vice Governor Taj Yasin, is intended to break the cycle of poverty and reduce school‑dropout rates. Yasin said the initiative follows the president’s vision to uplift low‑income families and noted that the province already operates semi‑boarding schools in Pati, Semarang, and Purbalingga districts.

The expansion adds to existing semi‑boarding facilities, with 15 such schools spread throughout the region, and is presented as a strategic step toward greater educational access for the poorest households.
