Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority leads India in FY26 port revenue

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has become India's highest revenue-generating major port for fiscal year 2026, earning ₹4,356 crore. This amount represents 16.4 percent of the total revenue generated by the country's 12 major ports.

Despite leading in revenue, JNPA ranked third in cargo volume, handling 102 million tonnes of cargo and over 8 million TEUs. In contrast, the Deendayal Port Authority led in cargo handling with a record 160.11 million tonnes but ranked second in revenue at ₹3,437 crore. Mumbai Port Authority ranked third in revenue with ₹3,319 crore. Together, these three ports accounted for nearly 42 percent of the ₹26,583 crore total revenue collected by India's major ports.

JNPA Chairperson Gaurav Dayal attributed the performance to operational excellence, capacity expansion, and technology-driven improvements. The data indicates that revenue is influenced by cargo mix, vessel traffic, terminal utilization, and value-added services rather than cargo volume alone. Overall, revenue for India's 12 major ports rose by 7 percent in FY26 compared to FY25.
