GOT7 leader Jay B has released his new single album, ‘Chptr. 1’, marking the beginning of a new series of musical releases. The project aims to showcase a more diverse range of genres beyond the R&B-heavy style that has defined much of his solo career.
The album features two tracks: the lead single ‘Honeydew’ and the pop-R&B track ‘Sweetie’. ‘Honeydew’ is described as a synthwave song characterized by a rhythmic bass line, dreamy synthesizers, and a recurring whistle motif. Jay B noted that this track was designed to reconcile his affinity for R&B with his identity as a performer, incorporating more dance-focused elements.
‘Sweetie’ utilizes electric piano, synthesizers, and guitar paired with heavier drums and bass. Jay B stated that the songs were shaped by his desire to offer comfort and support to his fans through different musical moods.
