Jay Idzes expected to return to Sassuolo lineup after injury

Jay Idzes, the captain of the Indonesia national team and defender for Sassuolo, is expected to return to competitive play following a recovery from a heel injury. After being sidelined since May, which caused him to miss several key matches including FIFA Matchday fixtures in June, Idzes is projected to make his comeback in an upcoming Serie A match against Atalanta.

Reports indicate that Idzes was rested during Sassuolo’s recent Coppa Italia match against Cesena, a move interpreted as preparation for the more demanding league fixture. His return comes as Sassuolo undergoes defensive restructuring following the departure of Tarik Muharemovic to Leeds United. The club is currently evaluating options to bolster its backline, with players like Fali Cande and Cas Odenthal being considered to partner Idzes in the defense.
