Jay Jay French criticizes Rock & Roll Hall of Fame politics
Twisted Sister guitarist Jay Jay French has criticized the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, describing the institution as a “political game.” Speaking on the Mistress Carrie Podcast, French argued that the Hall often prioritizes industry politics over artistic merit or commercial success.
French noted that despite the band having approximately 30 million international record sales and 37 gold and platinum albums, they have not received consideration from the Hall. He contrasted their situation with bands like The Velvet Underground, noting that while they are justifiably included, other artists may be inducted based on political maneuvering rather than merit.
French attributed the lack of respect for the band partly to their unwillingness to engage in music business politics and their origins in Long Island.
