Jay Rush Jennings Announces Debut Album and Revives 'Street‑Soul' Sound

R&B singer Jay Rush Jennings, the younger brother of Lyfe Jennings, is preparing to release his debut full‑length project that showcases his self‑coined “Street‑Soul” style – a blend of classic soul, modern R&B and street‑inspired storytelling. Influenced by Marvin Gaye, Tupac Shakur and his own family’s musical background, he aims to bridge generations by “taking the best of then and the best of now.”

His latest single “On Me,” featuring Keyiara and Baby Blue, samples Pretty Ricky’s “Love Like Honey” and was produced by Stanley Smith. Jennings deliberately avoids referencing his brother’s name in promotion, asserting that his talent should stand on its own, while crediting Lyfe Jennings for instilling discipline. He also comments on the evolving role of AI in music, viewing it as an industry tool rather than a creative replacement.
