Jay Weinberg reveals legal restrictions prevented musical collaborations
Musician Jay Weinberg has revealed that legal restrictions prevented him from collaborating with other artists and releasing certain music for a significant period. In an interview with ‘Loyal to the Craft’, the drummer explained that while he could create music and collaborate privately, he lacked the ‘legal ability’ to officially share or publish the results due to contractual obligations.
Weinberg noted that this period took an emotional toll, stating, ‘a little part of my creative self, it was dying for sure.’ He highlighted that some of his current work, including the song ‘Drown Fountain’ with Canadian duo Softcult, has been in development since 2013.
Since his departure from the band Slipknot in 2023, Weinberg has been active with several projects, including touring with Suicidal Tendencies, recording with Fuming Mouth, and forming the band Portraits of an Apparition.
