Jay‑Z Yankee Stadium concert delay attendance record guest appearances

Jay‑Z staged a three‑night residency at New York’s Yankee Stadium to mark the 30th anniversary of his debut album Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint. The first two shows sold out, with the Saturday night concert drawing a record‑breaking 45,832 fans, surpassing the previous night’s attendance.

The finale on July 12 was delayed by almost four hours after large groups of ticket‑less fans forced their way past security, prompting stadium officials to close all entrances. Jay‑Z later told the crowd, “I don’t want to start the music and people get trampled… I’m really sorry for the inconvenience, but I had to make sure everybody was OK.” He added, “I appreciate your patience.” The delay led to fans fainting, vomiting and a chaotic scene outside the venue.

Despite the setback, the concert featured a star‑studded lineup: Beyoncé and Blue Ivy appeared on opening night; Rihanna returned to the stage for a surprise performance of “Run This Town” and “B**** Better Have My Money”; other guests included Nas, Alicia Keys, Eminem, Pharrell Williams, Slick Rick, Usher, Teyana Taylor and many more. The shows celebrated Jay‑Z’s influence on hip‑hop and cemented the run as one of the biggest live‑music events in the stadium’s history.
