Jayan Mary claims injuries following detention in Mumbai protest

Jayan Mary, niece of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, has shared videos on social media alleging she sustained injuries during a police detention in Mumbai. In the videos, Mary displays bruises on her arms, fingers, legs, and thighs, describing the experience as “hellish.” She cautioned authorities against using intimidation, stating, “Do not frighten us so much that no fear remains.”

The incident occurred on October 8 at August Kranti Maidan during a demonstration organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). The group was protesting to demand the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the restoration of voting rights for individuals allegedly removed from voter lists during the SIR process.

Mary was detained alongside actor Imran Khan and Lekha Washington. While police reported that over 400 people were taken into custody because the protest lacked official permission, CJP activists claimed they had requested authorization via email without receiving a response. Mary and the others were released a few hours later. A formal complaint has reportedly been filed against actor Imran Khan following the event.
