Jayden Adams family unveils custom tombstone

The family and loved ones of late South African footballer Jayden Adams gathered at Jamestown Cemetery in Stellenbosch to unveil a custom-designed tombstone honoring his memory.

Adams, a 25-year-old midfielder who played for Stellenbosch FC and Mamelodi Sundowns, passed away on 11 July 2026. The monument features an inscription reading, “Forever in our hearts. Your legacy lives on,” and depicts Adams in his Sundowns kit lifting the CAF Champions League title.

In recognition of his impact, Mamelodi Sundowns has officially retired his number 8 jersey for the 2026/2027 season. Adams is survived by his partner, Aqueelah Adendorf, and two children.
