Jayden Adams honoured at 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony

The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony included a tribute to the late South African footballer Jayden Adams. The 25-year-old midfielder, who played for Mamelodi Sundowns and represented the national team Bafana Bafana, was honoured alongside legendary figures Franco Baresi and Kevin Keegan.

Adams passed away in July 2026, shortly after playing a significant role in helping South Africa reach the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. During his international career, he earned 13 caps and scored two goals. His professional career included stints with Stellenbosch and Mamelodi Sundowns, where he helped the club win the CAF Champions League.
