Jayden Daniels returns to Commanders lineup with elbow brace

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has returned to action for Week 5 against the New York Giants, wearing a protective brace on his left elbow following two dislocations within the past year. While Daniels participated in full practice sessions without restrictions, some NFL medical professionals have expressed concern that his history of repeated dislocations makes further injury to the joint a matter of “when, not if.”

To avoid season-ending surgery, the team plans to manage the injury with the brace through the offseason. The Commanders' depth is currently limited, as Marcus Mariota is sidelined with an MCL sprain, leaving rookie Athan Kaliakmanis as the backup.

Following a recent game against the Giants that ended in a tie, head coach Dan Quinn drew attention for spiking his headset in frustration after a late-game clock management error. Additionally, weather forecasts for the upcoming matchup at Northwest Stadium indicate heavy rain and strong winds from the remnants of Hurricane Isaias may impact gameplay.
